Antibodies are Y shaped proteins produced by B cells as part of the immune response. They are specific for a target analyte and are used to detect or purify the target in a variety of different applications. Polyclonal

Polyclonal Antibodies (PAbs) are made using many different immune cells and are specific for different epitopes on the same antigen.

Monoclonal

Monoclonal Antibodies (MAbs) are made using identical clones of the same cell and are specific for only one epitope on an antigen.

Secondary

A secondary antibody is not designed to bind the target analyte directly but will help with detection by binding to the primary antibody.

Flow Cytometry

Antibodies used for flow cytometry have a fluorescent marker attached that can be detected when they bind to the target of interest on or in a cell.
