Stathmin is a widespread cytoplasmic phosphoprotein, which has the function of controlling the signal in the integrated cell environment. When it reacts with microtubule makes microtubules unstable, which is related to the control of microtubule system. It avoids the polymerization of microtubules and promotes the depolymerization of microtubules. Overexpression of stathmin enhanced the depolymerization of microtubules. Stathmin expression will be associated with the sensitivity of lung cancer cells to vinorelbine, and will become an alternative marker of chemotherapy sensitivity of lung cancer cells to vinorelbine. Antisense inhibition of stathmin on paclitaxel tolerant leukemia cells increases their sensitivity to chemotherapy.
