Displays phosphatase activity for serine/threonine residues, and, dephosphorylates and activates MAP3K5 kinase. Has apparently no phosphoglycerate mutase activity. Acts as a central mediator for programmed necrosis induced by TNF, by reactive oxygen species and by calcium ionophore.
